Katie
Cochlin – Programme Manager – Publications Standards – CCMC
My name is Katie Cochlin and I am from the UK. I moved to
Belgium 9 years ago and I have been working at CCMC for 8 years. I have spent most
of my free time studying for my MBA which was completed last month. Now that I
have some free time coming up I am looking forward to learning Dutch and
starting up swimming.
What are you working on right now?
I am registering and allocating work in the team for
editing.
What is involved in the in-check process?
Well, this is linked to the material covered in our very
first post on 15th September. When we receive the texts from
TCs , I first check to see if everything is in order for the project to proceed
to an editor. I check the current workload of the team by using an electronic
dashboard to have an overview of projects already distributed and I then
allocate the new incoming work. I have to allocate fairly amongst the editors
so, amongst other things, I look at the number of pages, complexity involved,
type of deliverable and current workload of the editors. We aim to process
enquiries within 2 weeks, formal votes and UAPs within 5 weeks and publications
within 2 weeks. On average, we have around 1500 pages worth of editing to
get through each week.
